Talking Theatre with VoyageDenver

Last week, VoyageDenver published a Conversations with April Alsup feature, and it gave me a welcome opportunity to stop for a moment and look back at what has been an extraordinary year. Much of the conversation centers on Broadside the Musical; from researching Boston and the people behind the American Revolution to producing the show in Colorado and taking it across the Atlantic to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It’s been quite a journey, filled with history, music, choreography, theatre and some wonderfully creative people along the way.

The article also gave me a chance to connect that work with the larger story of Viewmark, how years spent in technology and media eventually led back to music, storytelling and creating original theatre. And while it’s nice to look back, we’re already looking forward. My attention has now turned to our next show, BLiP, and the process of taking another collection of ideas, characters and music and gradually turning them into something that can live onstage.

That’s what I enjoyed most about the VoyageDenver conversation. It captures a moment between where we’ve just been and where we’re heading next. Thanks to VoyageDenver for the conversation and for giving me a reason to stop, look around, and appreciate the journey.
